What is die cutting? What is the die-cut material?

What is die cutting? Through the literal meaning of the model, mold, cutting, punching, etc., in short, is a material through the mold to make a certain shape after punching! The broad sense of die cutting includes all metal and non-metallic materials die molding processing. The narrow sense of die cutting refers to non-metallic materials such as paper, film, tape, foam, silicone rubber and other polymer materials mold processing. Here we mainly introduce the narrow die-cutting, its conceptual scope mainly has the following points:

Die cutting Studio: Technological innovation is fundamental to all industries

1. The concept of die cutting comes from a process or job in the printing industry. Die cutting is not a separate industrial industry in China, it is just one of the processes of the printing industry, because label printing must first make the label into the required shape. So today many large printing plants are both printing and die-cutting, and many die-cutting factory owners are early out of the printing plant. For example, some large Taiwan-funded printing plants in Shenzhen in the early years have cultivated many company bosses in the die-cutting industry!

2. Die cutting can gradually develop into a separate industry category because of the mobile phone industry. With the rapid development of the smart phone industry has led to the rapid development of many consumer electronic products, and these products use a large number of functional materials without printing as long as die-cutting molding, which drives the die-cutting from the printing industry a process completely independent of an industry. Therefore, some people say that the source of die cutting is the auxiliary materials processing for the mobile phone industry, and they interpret die cutting more narrowly as a material processing method for the special mobile phone industry. This explanation is not entirely true but it makes some sense.

3. Die cutting is simply a material forming process. So from this point of view, it is the same as injection molding, CNC machining and other process purposes. Injection molding is to process polymer particle raw materials into a shape, CNC machining is to process metal materials and polymer materials into a shape, but they are different from the die cutting process, but the purpose is the same.

4. Die cutting belongs to the auxiliary industrial material industry. Die cutting services for all kinds of products in all walks of life, whether it is consumer electronics, heavy industry equipment, home appliances, automobiles, aircraft, military equipment, and even bathroom hooks at home, almost all industries can be served. Die-cutting materials may be used in any product as long as it has structural functional requirements. Therefore, die cutting belongs to a very widely used auxiliary industrial material industry.

What is the die-cut material? Through the basic introduction of die cutting above, we can understand that as long as the materials used for die cutting processing belong to die cutting materials! It is more accurate to say that as long as it is used in the functional or structural design of the product to play the role of insulation, heat conduction, electricity, shock, protection, paste, sealing and so on non-metallic materials (except injection molding process)! Usually more common die-cutting materials such as mobile phone computer protective film, a variety of double-sided tape, a variety of electrical furniture rubber pads and so on! Die-cut materials are classified as follows:

First, membrane materials: including a variety of PET,PVC,PP,PC,PTFE,PERK and other polymer membrane materials, polymer particle raw materials processed from the thickness of less than 1 mm rolled or sheet film. Thickness below 0.5 mm is coil, between 0.5-3 mm is generally sheet, above 3 mm is generally sheet. Because of the technical scope of the die-cutting molding process, usually only 1 mm below the film can be counted as die-cutting materials.

Two, paper materials: including a variety of kraft paper, highland barley paper, fast bus paper, red steel paper, aramide paper, writing paper, coated paper, synthetic paper and so on. Paper materials of coil, sheet, sheet (relatively rare) thickness division with film material, and generally only 1 mm below the paper material can be counted as die-cutting material.

Third, adhesive materials: including a variety of film or paper as the base material of single-sided, double-sided tape, no substrate tape, protective film and release film, release paper. As long as it is processed by coating adhesive materials can be counted as die-cutting materials. Adhesive materials generally do not exist sheet metal, its thickness is basically below 0.5 mm, and most of the thickness is below 0.2 mm!

Fourth, other materials: including all kinds of silicone rubber, conductive materials, thermal materials, dust filter, foam EVA, pearl cotton and so on. This piece is mostly a functional structural material of conductive materials, thermal materials, shock-proof sealing materials. Their thickness range is generally higher than that of general paper and film, adhesive materials.
